CAMDEN COUNCIL/KNOWLEDGE QUARTER/IMPACT HUB KING’S CROSS SIGNS UP TO BRIDGING CULTURES ROUNDTABLE EVENT

The third Bridging Cultures roundtable event planned for Kings Cross has received the endorsement of Camden Council, The Knowledge Quarter and Impact Hub King’s Cross, who will attend along with leaders from the corporate, cultural and social innovation sectors to explore how King’s Cross can better embrace inclusive growth and public spaces.

The roundtable event, which will be held at King’s Place on Monday, March 13, 2017, further elevates the area’s ambitions for social inclusion as Camden Council/Knowledge Quarter/Impact Hub King’s Cross is committed to becoming a global innovation hub.

The organisers of the Bridging Cultures Roundtable see this event as complementing the area’s innovative urban development and thriving cultural economy and international reputation as a leading destination.

The roundtable initiative is the brainchild of Dr. Noha Nasser, a respected urban designer, social entrepreneur, and author. Over the next twelve months, Nasser is planning additional City roundtable events to complement the vision of her award-winning book Bridging Cultures: the guide to social innovation in cosmopolitan cities. Nasser asserts that the event can assist in creating a fresh narrative which contributes to the wider complex cultural debate which incorporates the constant redrawing of urban spaces and places in communities across the country.

Nasser commented: “We are really excited to be holding our third Bridging Cultures roundtable event in Kings Cross, especially as the area has been transformed by Kings Cross Central urban development and the host of new public spaces. The event has already generated huge interest in the area, and we aim to retain the momentum established from the first events in Birmingham and Bristol. We believe by creating an open and honest dialogue with the country’s key cities and places we can use urban design to tackle prejudice and intolerance and enhance their respective public spaces of diverse cultural communities. Cultural diversity has the potential to introduce untapped creativity into the economy, and we must consider different ways to drive growth.”

The King’s Cross event, which will build on the success of the roundtable events in Birmingham in April 2016 and in Bristol in July 2016, is a partnership between MELA Social Enterprise, and the Knowledge Quarter, Impact Hub King’s Cross, and Camden Council.

The Bridging Cultures Roundtable will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 (9.00am-1.00pm) at King’s Place, St Pancras Room, Concert Hall Level -2, 90 York Way, London N1 9AG.
