What is the 2030 SDGs Game?

The 2030 SDGs Game is a multiplayer, in-person, card-based game that simulates taking the “real world” into the year 2030. Created in Japan now rolling out to the rest of the world. After the simulation we have time to reflect and have meanigful conversations. What did we experience? What difference can we make? How do we want to apply what we learned?

There are now over 300 trained facilitators within the community in Japan. Due to a growing demand Imacocollabo created an English version of the game. The Game has now been played on 5 continents by more than 100,000 people. Find out more on the 2030 SDGs Game website.

Who can play the game?

Anyone can! Whether you have no prior knowledge of the SDGs or you are an SDG expert you can play this game.

“Its a great way to learn about the SDGs and why we need them. When playing the game people get to understand how their actions and behaviour have an impact on our world. For me, the game is also a start to great collaboration amongst people, teams and organisations” – Naila, Founder P3 Connect

The game has been played by senior management of leading global companies, government officials, secondary school students, activists and everyone in between. The more diverse the game participants are, the more representative of society it is.

Why play the game?

  • It raises awareness and simplifies what the SDGs mean
  • It inspires and motivates players to take action in the real world
  • It gives people a direct experience of participating in co-creating a sustainable world

“It was a great realization and understanding about the interconnection of the 17 goals and also the difficulties in achieving balance among the economic, environmental, and social aspects.” S.O, ESG associate, London, UK
